Cooking can be a very lucrative profession in World of Warcraft and it has always been one of the most enjoyable ones for me. In this article I share with you a number of tips and tricks that you can use to improve your cooking skill and make more gold.
Initially in World of Warcraft you start out in a beginner’s area. In this area you wont be able to start the cooking profession, you can start it when you hit level 5. Until then just knuckle down and try to save some coin to use when you start your cooking trade.
If you are ready to say goodbye to the newbie zone, talk to the guard and ask him how to get to the nearest cooking trainer. Your first recipe will be to make spice bread as you’ll find out when you talk to the trainer. Once you’ve got the recipe go and buy the required ingredients and cook the bread until its green.
When you are questing you can often find suitable cooking ingredients. Even if you don’t need them right away, its sometimes a good idea to hang onto them because they will be of use later and you’ll save a bit of money not having to buy them. Egg’s and meat are a couple of common ingredients you can find during quests.
Something else to remember, when you’re talking with non player characters throughout the game, always check to see if they have any recipes for sale. You can sometimes find unique recipes here which contribute to one of your achievements which is based on how many different things you can cook.
As time goes by, you might start accumulating ingredients that you don’t need. In this case, sell them on the AH.
In order to make the most profit you need to cook foods that help with stat points. Sometimes the ingredients for these are only found in level 60+ zones. Don’t be discouraged however, stick at the profession and it’ll pay you well in the end.
Fishing is one profession that works in synergy with cooking – I recommend you strongly consider pairing this with cooking. Some high end meals are made using fish and fishing can obviously provide for this easily. Furthermore, fishing has achievements available.
Make the most out of cooking. Use the boosting foods to your advantage and restore your hit points through eating your own meals. Sell in demand foods for gold in the AH and couple Cooking with the fishing profession for maximum profit.
